This week's project was giving Matilda's dresser a fun and sweet makeover! The theme of her room is difficult to explain... It kind of has it all! So far it's coming together nicely and she's loving it. In our last post I shared her dreamy reading nook which shows a little bit of the theme. We are describing it as a little girl's dreamland: cotton candy, popsicles, ice cream cones, donuts, rainbows, clouds, stars, and unicorns.
I knew I wanted to make the dresser all about sweet treats. I found the little donuts at Michaels and adhered them to the knobs that I painted the same color as the drawers. I painted the dresser white and each drawer a different shade of mint starting with the lightest color for the top drawers and the darkest color for the bottom drawer. The mint ombre looks amazing and goes well with the crushed coral from the cloud wall.
The donut jar came from Homegoods and We are using it to store bows, hair ties, and hair clips.
Inside each drawer has a lining of sprinkled pink wrapping paper that I also found at michaels. I used mod podge and it went on perfectly.
I also used the wrapping paper along the side of the drawers. Super cute and easy!
Styling the dresser was my favorite part. I bought these little ceramic ice cream cones at Michaels and Target and planted tiny succulents in them.
Of course I had to buy this ice cream cone lamp from HomeGoods! The mint and gold frame is also from Homegoods.
