I have found that diet is at the root of healthy skin but a solid skincare routine is just as important. Finding Safer Skincare Products
After months of trying a natural routine (oil cleansing/baking soda scrubs/ACV toner, etc), I felt extremely discouraged and decided to seek professional grade skincare products. I found myself struggling to find products that were not loaded with cancer-causing chemicals and hormone disruptors, but were still powerful enough to improve my skin. I think it's well known that a simple skincare routine and wholesome diet can significantly improve your complexion. But, unfortunately, too many people think following a low-fat diet is the cure for acne. This is untrue! I put together a quick list of the do's and don'ts which is a great starting point if you're curious about improving acne through diet. After all, skin is the human body's largest organ and what we eat has profound effects on our skin.
- Do eat lots of healthy fats (fish, avocado, grass-fed butter, oils, nuts, & seeds)
- Don't eat anything refined (sugars, oils, grains, etc)
- Do drink lots of water, unsweetened herbal teas, and kombucha
- Don't eat hormone disrupting unfermented soy products
- Do eat gut healing fermented foods and a variety of fruits and veggies
